Action and Body Art
A series of artistic events and activities in the late 1960's, that were characterized by the use of the human body or the reference therein, by interventions of artists in their own body, as well as from public performances that are aimed to cause shock or boredom, and highlighted the boredom and the violence that dominate our lives. The self-inflicted injuries, the 12-hour period of reading W. Bush, the provocative nude demonstrations, etc. are typical examples of the kind.
