Special Information for the Artist
He received his first lessons in painting from the hagiographer G. Matsingos in Thessaloniki. Starting in 1930, he studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts under D. Geraniotis and O. Argyros. He got involved with ‘Giant Poster’ techniques during his student years. He was a pioneer of this field in Greece and he founded the so-called "School of Athens". He transferred his know-how to G. Vakirtzis and Ch. Serasis who were his assistants. In 1956, he turned to hagiography.
