Special Information for the Artist
He is considered as the older significant painter after the Revolution of 1821 and the first proponent of western style in the Greek Church iconography.
It is reported that he passed one year in Mont Athos, studying Byzantine and post-Byzantine art and then he left for studies in Florence (1817-1821). In his hagiographies he is intensely influenced by the Italian religious painting as it was formed after the revolution.
He has presented his work in Olympia
1859 . In 1927 in Athens at Stratigopoulou room took pl ace an exhibition of his 69 works.
