BIOGRAPHY

Siatista Kozani 1871 – 1960.

She is a painter who is undoubtedly, one of the most important female creators of late 19th century. She grew up in Constantinople where she became a teacher. In 1895 she began her artistic studies in Munich with teachers such as Gyzis, Jacovidis and Vokos, as well as attended lessons at various studios. She returns to Constantinople in 1898 and had her first exhibition at the Greek Artistic Society in 1899. She returns to Munich and in 1903 she moved to Paris and comes in contact with new artistic tendencies. She travels extensively and finally settles in Athens in 1940. Her paintings are war themes - the 1912-1913 wars and the Asia Minor catastrophe - as well as other historical themes, sometimes in a traditional style and sometimes with personal impressionistic features.
