Special Information for the Artist
Dimitris Kossos was born in Tripoli in 1817. He died in Athens in 1872.
Following a period close to his father in the naval port of Poros, is registered student at University. In 1846 , 1847 and 1848 involve d in the exhibitions of students of the University. In 1849, he entered the Academy of Munich r eceiving a scholarship from the Government. He lived for ten years in Paris, where he opened a workshop. In 1863 most likely (or 1864) returned to Greece. In 1865 he was appointed Professor of Plastic and Artistic industry in the University, a position he held until 1868.
He is called as "the premier of the artists of modern Greece".
