Special Information for the Artist
The sculptor Thymios Panourgias was born and raised in Agrinio by local parents. He studied at the School of Fine Arts in Athens (1951-1956) in the laboratory of G. Pappas and later he continued his studied in Paris in the respective school with an IKY scholarship (1960-1963). In 1964 he settled permanently in Athens. He works tirelessly on sculpture which occasionally exhibits, creates monuments, sculpt, deals with the unions in the industry and with others founded the Society of Sculptors and Sculpture Gallery in partnership. He is a member of many committees of various organizations and ministries. From 1972 to 1998 he taught design and sculpture at the School of Fine Arts.
He participated in all major international competitions official sculpture, Sao Paulo, Venice, Osaka, Alexandria (prize) and Budapest (prize). His works can be found in many public and private collections and museums in Greece, Europe, USA and Canada. He has participated in group exhibitions in Greece and abroad.
