Special Information for the Artist
Exceptional artist with a purely personal impressionist idiom and somewhat expressionist tendencies. He began his studies at the Athens School of Fine Arts as a student of Lytras and continued in Munich with Gyzis and others. He travelled widely, returning to Greece in 1925 from Munich where he had lived for more than 40 years. His work is characterized by its rich personal impressionism and by the freedom of his brushwork. He paints traditional scenes and landscapes and has done special theoritical studies on the role of colours and their expressive values.
